Natural Therapies and Nutritional Consultancy

David's first health business in the late 1970s was marketing Nature's Sunshine herbs when they first came to New Zealand. In 1979 he came to major turning point in life which resulted in him buying 4 heactares just out of Invercargill to grow herbs and returned to his spiritual journey with ECKANKAR. It was through Nature's Sunshine he came into contact with a Dr. Eugene Watkin's, who taught a one year distance education natural therapies course.

Dr. Eugene Watkin's taught a code, that a Naturopathic Physician follows:

"A person who is concerned about the total health of the patient, that is to say not just a rash on the left forearm, or not just a patch of scalp that is not growing the way it should, but the total person, what is this person thinking, what is behind what is going on here?" He asks "have you had a chance to chat with them as a person? It may be that the root of the cause is something much different, from just rubbing a cream or a lotion on the skin."

"One who provides a positive program for right living that leads a patient to good health
One who develops an awareness in a patient that they are ultimately responsible for their own health
Recognises the natural healing substances that are compatible with the human body and produce no harmful side effects
Recognises that calm not haste, and generosity not greed are necessary for healing
Can keep the confidentialities shared with the patient
Avoids putting the disease worry labels on a patient"

He asks "have you seen someone carrying this load, they have gone somewhere and someone told them 'Oh my goodness you have osteo -whatever arthritis' and they are running around saying 'Oh my goodness I've got it, I've got it, I've got osteo arthero-whatever-ever it is arthritis' and they've got it. You understand - they have it - there was no positive idea for healing put in their minds. So we avoid that."

"A Naturopath is the physician who loves humanity for the good that resides there.
He fills the void between daily living and a condition of ill health.
And the Naturopath is a physician who harbours no negative states of mind. If you are in the vocation, a vocation of healing, this is a profession that requires that you are clean to. So we must harbour no negative states of mind.
A physican who attends to their own personal state of health and wellbeing. You must not neglect yourself - that cry has always been there since the beginning of time hasn't it "Physician heal thyself!" What can you do for yourself ? if you are working for others ?
A physcian who works at eliminating the cause of disease rather than treating the symptoms.
A physician who knows that disease is the product of wrong living, and health is the product of right living.
A physician that understands that disease does not dwell in a cleansed body, when the body is clean there is no room for disease.
Understands the body, mind and spirit must be brought into balance before true healing can take place."

"When you are talking about healing you are talking about a positive thing, you don't want to give somebody something that creates a negative state of mind you don't want to say that you have two weeks to live. Now suppose instead of that you say "Lets see what can be done". If that person reaches out their hand for help surely something can be done - at least you can comfort them can't you? - what does it profit you to give them a death sentence".

As this certification of completion of a year long course completed in 1982 says, has demonstrated proficiency in the fields of nutrition, vitamins, minerals, and herbs. My first practitioner level course, this was with Dr Eugene Watkins of the Centre for Building Better Health Naturally in the U.S.A.
