Howcpts is Harmony deva’s human name. How Concepts is short for Concepts on How to have conscious relationships with the your Devas”. You may request HowCpts assistance if you imagine her presence (wherever you are) or if you come to Harmony Forest and ask if you can be with her.
She has a way of looking at the forest she governs that is different from the average humans though once again the quantum physicists and spiritual ecologists are discovering the idea of fuzzy boundaries and logic. If a human parent has a child it defends it’s love for that child however far the child wanders. Is it not the same to the forest if it has a child and that child is a lone tree by itself in a far paddock? Did not a bird or wind of the forest carry that child to its birth place? If you were the child would you look to the forest as of your kind? Such it is that the Deva’s responsibilities are to all those who look to her forest as kin.
This forest adjoins others but to which does the tree that grew through the fence line belong? Who looks after its seed if it travels afar?
This forest has a motorway through it with busy people racing by in special moving boxes of isolation. They momentarily part through the forest and need specialist care and attention. The motorway climbs from the valley floor and passes through ‘The Forest of the Clouds’ briefly at a Saddle. The Saddle has long been different as the easy way for people to travel north from the city. A deva there looks after such different things. As we have more than one politician looking after citizen’s so too we may have more than one Guardian Deva looking after the one people, the one home, the one forest, city, or country.
Trees may be rooted to one spot, houses locked to one foundation, and cities stuck over one sewage-power-water-communication system but Devas and Guardians are physical or meta-pyhsical and as such they too can have romantic holidays, visits to family, study sabaticals, and work projects that they travel to.
Humans can be devas as they have also have the physical and meta-physical bodies. To train look for a deva and a spiritual master (one who works with devas) to assist.
Place Deva’s generally run the whole operation themselves. They take into account what humans want and do to a place but humans are usually unaware of their existence and make little direct input into the management of their place.
After connecting with Harmony’s Deva earlier this month, I decided to connect again in today’s spiritual exercise, and the Deva invited me to participate at a much more conscious level if I wished. So I discussed it with them, and with the Deva and my co-guardian, assumed full authority over who does what at Harmony. We are all to always do this with love, and to stay happy and calm all the time. Explosions of emotions, and ripples of dis-harmony, can disturb sensitive beings enough to lose their connection with what is right.
In the past I had told the birds, possums, goats and other animals what they could not do, and had been told many times that some levels of consciousness do not understand no, and so to them a ‘No’ statement is a ‘Do’ statement.
It seems much more effective to have every being ask for permission before they do anything. This all takes place at higher levels as has always happened within the spiritual heirachy under the Deva. So introduced birds may eat on the grass, hang-out in our mature hazelnuts and any native tree, eat foods put aside for them, such as the kale seed-heads we have left for them and fly within the clearing.
Rodents, mustelids, possums have been asked to leave by dawn tomorrow except where they are bringing up a family nested on site. They can complete this before moving on.
Introduced daytime mammals have been asked to leave by mid-night. Wild goats have been given prior permission to be here so they have been asked to consider the merits of Harmony’s ‘big picture’ and to leave if they wish. Any animals can visit briefly for safe harbour in times of emergency.
Any being can ask the Spiritual Masters, the Deva or either of us human co-guardians for whatever its needs are, and may be given special permission to do things such as sit in the human’s fruit trees.
Since giving this permission, I know they have the message, because every thrush and blackbird I’ve seen eating on the lawn has flown up into the hazelnut tree afterwards, and areas other than the kale, are noticeably quieter.
This story also appeared in All Souls Communication as “A Human as a conscious Deva“
“There’s a lot of old stumps by the roadside,
One of them twelve feet through.
I remember the day we felled that tree,
With four of an expert crew.
There was Ngati and King and Heta,
All Maoris from Puketi,
We’d all spent our lives in the Kauri bush,
The fourth man of course being me.
We cut in the scarf and side scarfs,
So the tree would fall the right way,
And by the time we’d put in the riggers,
There wasn’t much left of the day.
The horn sounded down at the cookhouse,
A feed as a king there, we know,
Pumpkin and spuds and onions,
And a whalloping, big beefstew.
There was always a pudding to follow,
A big plum duff as a rule,
More than the whole gang could swallow,
With our cook was no-body’s fool.
Next morning we tackled the forest giant,
With saw and wedges and maul,
And we pulled that big saw for eight hours,
Before it was ready to fall.
In a few years that stump will be rotten,
And grass growing where it once stood,
The Kauri bush will be forgotten,
And bushmen will vanish for good. (?)
My Grandad said once he was dancing,
On a stump that was twelve feet through,
Some say the old man was romancing,
But I can believe it, can you?
The young folk will say there weren’t Kauris.
That grew up to twelve feet through.
“That’s only a yarn of the Maori,
Huh! Such fancy trees never grew.

Are we ready as humans to connect with our GAIA consciousness as they are in Pandora?
Once Earth was like Pandora – alive with huge forests linked across the land by their roots and branches. On Pandora the roots of all trees connect like nerves as one great sentient being. On Earth plants secrete chemicals that carry in the soil and air to their neighbours. Are we are as blind to the sentient aliveness of our trees as the miners from Earth are in Avatar?
The destruction of Earth’s forest was the Earth people’s destruction of the unknown, the unsafe, the dark. On Pandora forests are alive with necklaces of light, luminous fairies, and the glow of action potential’s sparked in tree roots by feet stepping opon them. More than this the native peoples synapse in two-way mind connection with the trees and their flying “horses”. They connect with the wisdom and presence of the ancestors held in the trees and the entire biosphere of Pandora is sentient.
An Avatar is an physically embodied teacher of the divine. The Tree in the centre of all is Avatar, the soldier in cyberspace with a virtual alien body becomes Avatar.
On Earth a root tip grows like a nerve putting out chemicals, sensing the variations in the earth, and responding. Maybe we will discover that they synapse with each other when we are not so self-centered to think that all intelligence is human. Human’s may be more intelligent, when they think, feel, and connect. Avatar, the movie, points out that usually we don’t.
We all see many lonely isolated trees separated from their kin in grass wastelands, and tarmac (bitumen) holes. Our forest remnants are forced to connect as broken shards of once great forests. New Zealand’s oldest matriachs and patriachs are both public and hidden. Kauri and Matai trees 2 – 10,000 years old. What is it like to be born to the land and spend a thousand years to gain you place above the forest to look to your parents, and across to your grandparents, who look to the oldest of all – the true Father and Mother of All Trees. To feel the ground thunder ever closer as they are felled by axe and saw, a few little parts of them shipped out by trampling teams of bullocks, and the scraps (vast bulk) and survivors burned.
There is a prophetic story in the Matakohe Museum “The Young Folks will say there weren’t [large - Ed.] Kauri”
The largest known kauri in existence is Tane Mahuta (Maori for ‘Lord of the Forest’). It is 4.4 metres in diameter and 17.7 metres to the first branch. The museum has displays showing even larger trees which were growing in the past. Tane is a young tree.
Te Matua Ngahere - Father of the Forest
Te Matua Ngahere (Father of the Forest – also in Waipoua Forest) is older. He speaks and connects the sincere with the trees of this land at a level few believe. As oldest known Father he has risen to a maturity beyond his some 2,000 years.
At the Matakohe Museum on the wall above the doorway the girths of the hidden phantom Kauri of the forest are much larger still. Stories are told, fading now, of bushmen finding trees they thought were cliffs, such was the girth that it took several paces to realise the cliff was curved. It says in the Avatar, the movie, “I See You”. You have to be right up against a mighty tree to see it in a forest. Even in Harmony there are phantoms; old podocarps seen, that we cannot find again. Trees that play with the light and let us see them when we are ready.
A pivotal movie that speaks much for the forest at Harmony and shows us the eco-spiritual people that we are invited to become.

This morning I opened my heart fully loving Harmony and found myself in the space of Harmony’s guardian Deva. I felt the awsome energy and love these Devas have for all in their care, as they busily carry out their duties. It was an honour to consciously feel the Deva at work and to assist. It is a close bond and I remain in touch; ready to help inwardly no matter what I may be doing outwardly.
Teleco’s around the world are saying how many people they are reaching with high-speed connections. They either exaggerate or their population counts of those who live in rural areas are low.
Within Harmony Forest we are completely off-grid with no desire to have any wired connections to the world.
Mobile Phone
This was the simplest. As each Telco’s service is patchy in different areas I trialled different service providers until I found the one with strongest reception in our clearing.
I asked everywhere for a mobile with an aerial, like early models had, so I could plug an extension into an aerial jack, but couldn’t find one. So when signal strenth is weak I hold the phone up in the air and it dramatically improves as interference from the trees decreases.
Internet Connection
In mid 2008 I trialed unsuccessfully to connect with a wireless Vodafone (TM) system using their Vodem (TM). I couldn’t connect and was released from the contract.
I then spent several weeks near the top of another company’s frequent visitor list until their manager finally opted out of their obligations – saying they don’t support Mac computers. I assume he meant that I should have known better.
Thinking I could always site a new building on a sweet spot to get reception I signed up with Vodafone again on the condition that I could opt out of the contract once more if I didn’t get a connection. The Vodem(TM) connects to the internet via a SIM card that makes a mobile phone connection to Vodafone’s website. Its a slow than dial-up in the country, but when I carry the laptop into the city I attain broadband speed. The laptop is light to carry and consumes 60Watts of off-grid solar-power rather than about 600W for a desktop.
Our small 150W inverter converts 12V from solar power into 240V modified sine-wave electricity. I switch on the computers power adapter for about 10 seconds to let the capacitor store enough power to stabilise its power consumption before plugging the other end into the computer. If I don’t do this all the electricity pulses on and off and the compact flourescent light flickers in synch. A more expensive pure sine-wave inverter would not have this problem and can help sensitive electronic equipment last longer. I turn off all power adapters when not in use so that they don’t consume electricity around the clock.
To set up the system Vodafone confirmed access codes via its mobile phone network. They couldn”t send a message via email to the computer and I didn’t have one of their mobile phones as their reception was very poor. So it took several trips into town to take the SIM card out of the Vodem and put it into one of their phones to receive the proper codes.
The Vodem connects much better than their mobile phones as the package includes a longer connector that taps into the power of two USB ports. This gives it a stronger signal to receive and transmit messages than the short single USB cable that works fine in cities.
Phone
We have a wireless phone offered by Vodafone for $15 a month instead of the usual $25 as we have the vodem internet connection plan spending $50 a month for up to 1gb. It also has its own SIM card but local calls are free. The unit is light and small and can easily be moved another toll-free area, but its phone number tells the system when it is out of its local area and every call becomes a toll call.
We looked at the specs on the back to find out power consumption and one of their local salespeople spent 4-5 hours researching to confirm that the wireless system would run on modified sine-wave electricity.
I took the multiple handset phone I connected to the wireless system back because the batteries didn”t hold their charge for up to seven days, as stated on the packaging. Calls to the major phone manufacturer and talks with the local reseller informed me that none of them ever do. Because each handset had its own power adapter consuming about 10W a day to sustain the charge in its battery I bought a single handset phone, with number dialling on the base set as well.
This phone also works better than mobile phones from the same provider because it has an aerial about 2m long.
It’s a 5.88 gHz phone and the signal carries about 35m. If I open the window and put the transmitter aerial outside the timber and corrugate iron building reception increases to 50m.
Connection
One part of our clearing has line of sight to a group of transmitters that will probably continue to improve as the major Telco’s provide coverage to motorists on a major State Highway in our valley. The signal is weakened by the distance and what remains is rapidly soaked up by the forest around us.
We could put a dish high on a mast to get past the trees and connect to a satelite based internet service provider, such as Farmside, but the costs of the tower, the dish, and the higher costs of data transfer encourage us to get by with our wireless connection via a mobile phone. At least we do not have the very high costs of connecting via a mobile phone plugged into our computer. The technology is the same but the charges are less when the ‘mobile’ is dedicated to internet use only.
I don’t receive all of my emails or texts due to flaws in the microwave mobile phone system so I check for missed emails via WebMail. I don’t try and find every text I may not have received, such as the first of a two part text.
The distance a mobile phone transmitter signal travels shrinks as the number of users increases. So I am able to establish a connection most reliably when few others are using their mobiles. I often avoid the peak connection times of 9am to 5pm when businesss are using their mobiles and internet, and 7pm to 10pm when most people connect to the internet from their homes. If I need to connect during these times I retry until otherpeople get off the network.
Suprising news at ECKANKAR’s DVD screening of “Road to Spiritual Freedom”, last night. The speaker Harold Klemp said that the concept of freedom began with the Greeks 2,500 years ago. Before that he says no society knew of the concept. Rulers had always subjugated the masses so that was all anybody knew.
The Greeks discovered political freedom because they wanted independence for all their city states. Persia at the time was an empire as large as the United States is today, and it largely ruled the world. The Persian king also wanted to rule Greece. Though outnumbered and repeatedly attacked by the mighty Persian empire the Greeks kept defeating the Persians so their king offered peace under Persian rule. The Greeks refused said they would fight for the freedom to self-rule until they died. The Persians found freedom difficult to understand, as they had no concept of it, no word for it.
Eons of time in the making and the idea of political freedom had arrived.
The Romans and the Roman Catholic Church took people back into servitude. During the industrial revolutions in Europe, and today in India, China, and other countries the masses again worked for the profit of the barons and their governments.
In the 1800s and early 1900s science began to explore the complex interactions of living organisms that became known as ecology. Survival of the fittest and the human’s understanding of their divine right to rule the animal kingdom was interpreted as the right to subjugate and not to serve and look after.
Levels of industrial age pollutants increased and resources became further depleted. Humans went into space and saw that the earth was a finite sphere. It’s beautiful blue and white colours kindled a love for their home and they started to listen to its needs and see how they could help it look after itself. At night the cities glowed from space and humans started to see the changes they had made.
In the 1970s the hippies, the counterculture of the leading industrial countries, invented the concept of personal freedom, and humans granted freedom to rule to the environment. Earth became Gaia. Each species had a right to live. Endangered species were recorded and efforts made to safe them, although it was often too late. Humans took an active role in the ecology of the world, and made many mistakes, as they understood little of it. Now they were a part of it, animals and other eco-systems were all found to be affected by the influences of man. Deep Ecology was born. Humans learned that the thoughts and feelings of themselves, other animals, and plants affected every ecosystem. Spiritual Ecology believed that all elements of an eco-system were manifestations of Soul and all Soul’s were on a spiritual journey discovering God as the source of all Love.
At key places such as Findhorn (UK), Perelandra (USA), Harmony (NZ) and others, the almost physical, etheric beings, elementals, and devas reached out for a more conscious connection to all beings, and where acknowledged by those who had realised there was more than just the physical.
As humans had become more self-conscious so had all others on the planet. Some humans recognised that plants had become sentient, feeling beings, and that animals had become self-conscious. Initially they had little trust of humans, but many enlightened souls within the other kingdoms reached out with the love in their hearts and communicated with humans.
All beings in every ecosystem became more aware of their own responsibilities within their local and world communities. All learned that they had the right to self-govern, and that if they respected the rights of others, self-responsiblity lead to personal freedom. Individuals within each species realised (as they had always done) that when true freedom was found, their hearts filled with such respect for other beings, that they served them.
The concept that the true leader is in service to those he leads re-emerged and the world almost had the spiritual realisation, foretold for 2012, that love was service to others. This would have taken the world to its next level of initiation and the Spiritual hierarchy placed special protection over the world to see that it made its own choice.
Its desire for cheap goods put most Chinese, Indian, Asian, and African peoples into servitude to the barons, as it had throughout the industrial age in Europe. Though it was possible to find out that the rich were buying up countries and that cash incomes were decreasing humans continued to listen to advertising (propaganda) by the rich that taught them their craving for freedom could be feed by grabbing as much of the world as they could. In the end, their freedom was the only thing they had to trade for their debt. Few noticed their standard of living decreasing as their rights diminished.
The depletion of water, food, fuel, and housing was seen as imminent and in denial humans used all they could with little regard for the lives of their children, and every other being in the planet. Sharing would have saved the world. Sharing would have resulted in population control, and the immediate adoption of many technologies that could have restored a healthy living eco-system.
China supplanted America, and once again there was little time to discover personal spiritual freedom.
The concept of right to self-govern was still not applied to planet Earth and those from other planets and star systems continued to deplete resources not claimed as theirs by the indigenous beings. When various off planet beings revealed themselves as our engineers, our guardians, our Masters, and as simply thieves in the night, all beings on Earth learned to claim earth as theirs.
As late as 2009 David (this author) realised that guardianship was more than benevolent governance, it was a love of each and every being, to do everything possible to help them live in the one family. Family is infinite and love is limitless. It was at this time he stopped telling himself and those whom had been in his domain, Harmony Forest, what to do. He stopped being the dominant male, king-human. The Mahanta and his co-guardians had taught self-responsibility and Love. Lynne had taught him to tell stories.
Listening to and telling stories is a key to understanding others. When we listen to other beings we learn to respect their needs and can help if asked. We find ways to support and nourish each other. This is Love.
Each time each one of us acknowledges ourselves as Soul, communicates with all as Souls on spiritual journey, and seeks to understand God, and love each other, then the threads of a different story have been woven into the fabric of history.
It will not just be the above.

Succession and regeneration in the forest are always different as differences in nearby trees, soil, topography, and weather stimulate the growth of some colonising trees more than others. The nearer species downwind and within flight of birds decide what seeds can come into the area, but not what will germinate.
If a mature forest s cleared and put into grass, as where parts of Harmony, then many of the seeds in the ground will be of final stage trees that need the shade of intermediate stage forest to germinate. If the forest was mixed broadleaf-podocarp forest, such as Harmony, pioneer trees along the edges and where mature trees fall within the forest, will have put seeds into the ground, and they will be waiting.
It is still always interesting what comes up.
Harmony has long known its destiny and many foresters have given protection to the forest that has allowed it to grow as it knows it must.
The lands purpose in the great order of things determines that every type of plant must be present in a community that represents as many beings as is practical.
The first pioneers to replace the grass patches at Harmony include tree fern, pittosporum, broadleaf, and tree fuchsia. At a young 30-120 years of age the various forests within Harmony still retain the character of these pioneers. There are extensive colonies of tree ferns, scattered with mature broadleaf, lines of tree fuchsias at forest edge, areas with and without pittosporums.
At different altitudes there are forests of young NZ cedar, areas of mostly all totara, and others of mixed totara and miro. For some divine reason young rimu have still not been found and those introduced have not flourished, though there are several mature trees remaining.
Expressing their love of trees the early pioneers only took timber trees (podocarps) from a section of forest that was wet and steep and would not have made good grass pasture. The early citizens of the city also decided to take their water from two of Harmony’s three creeks and thus much the catchment area was not clear felled and burned. Then as was the plan they stopped taking the water and Harmony’s creeks returned to untouched bounties of living water energy.
Harmony is unique. Every forest is.
Harmony’s community has a purpose. Every community does.
Harmony Forest plans its future. Every community does.
Before singing a HU Song (A Love Song to God) at ECKANKAR’s Course on Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships last night I looked at the large old trees outside, thought of my love for All Beings, and how they play with the light (filtered by their form, reflected by their leaves) and sound (wind) of God. We sung the HU and I soon heard from the trees. They asked “What is this HU Song?” I replied that it was a love song to God. The trees had been aware of the many HU Songs that have taken place in the room near them, and once they had the attention of one of the singers, a line of communication opened, through which they could find out more. In finding out more, they have become more conscious of the HU, and we more aware that It connects with all creation. The Booklet “Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships” by Harold Klemp is full of stories that speak to the heart of those seeking to live their relationships consciously. Thus it was no surprise that I was given homework of telling stories generally, and my own personal stories to All Beings at Harmony. Wild animal groups that can’t trust humans and not going to trust a human speaking on behalf of humans anymore than I would. However all beings know that an individual story is of interest, as a person can be different from a group. Try the exercises of thinking about the love you have for others, whether it be a car, a dog, a house, a people-person, and sing HU. It will open a doorway of understanding and when spirit links lover to loved a love connection opens in which both can begin to trust and understand each other. If you want the help of a Spiritual Master, think any you are comfortable with. Think of Harold if you wish. If you want the help of any other being send the message of love to them too. Many of the elementals, plants, animals, devas, guardians, and Masters connected with Harmony love to help others. Acknowledge and accept the presence of whoever you choose as Soul. All Souls exist because of God’s Love, including you.
Dear Friends of Harmony
The daylight hours have really lengthened since the winter solstice and we are well on our run to the longest day of the year again. Growth and Development I am enjoying this as the time to paint, renovate, and insulate ready for the damper, colder times. I’ve just put wool batts and lining in under the outside overhang that forms part of the sleeping loft in Herby cabin and it is feeling much warmer. The semi-outdoor cooking area in front of Danaa (cob kitchen and dining) is fully closed in now and proving popular for sheltered lunches in the sun. We haven’t had any courses, volunteers or interns for the new season yet though it won’t be long now that the numbe of enquires is increasing again.
Blogs and Stories
As you know my two blogs Harmony Farm and Harmony Forest are hosted at wordpress. You can tell this by the blog addresses being “www.harmonyfarm.wordpress.com” and “www.harmonyforest.wordpress.com“. Two years ago I discovered that the wordpress program could be downloaded onto servers but didn’t know how. Over the following period I contemplated on it, and regularly tried different ways of doing so. Last week I succeeded. At http://www.gemstonetherapy.info/wp you can read my new stories. It focuses on the daily spiritual life, as an inspiration to all soul on the journey. Perhaps this is why I’m a month late publishing this newsletter.
Birds and Fairies
The fairies have been a big help this year, talking to the birds about leaving the buds and leaves, on our fruit and nut trees. We have more than ever, though it is clear the birds have been having a difference of opinion with the fairies as they do with us. I continue to keep talking to them, telling them that I claim “our” fruits and nuts as hours. Lorraine has been enjoying Findhorn and animals are soul books as they are so close to what we are doing at Harmony.
Hazelnuts
We have were pleased to see our first hazelnuts on the ground under the trees now that cross fertility is occurring between the young tree we planted between the two mature ones. So with added expectations we have introduced two more species. We have planted two of these in “Arrival” down by the gate and two by the earlier hazelnuts.
Pigs
As some of you know I have a soft spot for the wild pigs. It’s a vulnerable button that is easily pushed at the mention of what they see fit to do to our tracks and gardens. Some volunteers have seen this after doing a great job keeping me informed of what they have seen, after they have walked around Harmony. Anytime you feel like things aren’t going right and emergency protocols such as singing HU don’t appear to work, you might like to try the following.
Mock Up Technique
Sit in a quiet space and as Soul put your attention on your inner eye, trust that it will be taken care of, and observe what is happening. Look for anything. I did this with the pigs and saw the spiritual Master’s herding the with pigs with big sticks to guide their direction out of Harmony, to where they would be taken care of. I wondered about the earth elementals, looked further and saw gnomes riding each pig. With each pig looked after I was no longer concerned. The technique is not to make anything like this happen. It is simply to place yourself in a quiet detached space and see what happens. Spirit (God, the Universe) always has a solution, and you are looking to see what solution is happening.
Love,
David
